You’ve heard what I’m about to say a million times. And you’ve heard it said it various ways and pending when you heard it, they hit a bit different. I lean on these sayings when things aren’t going to plan. Sometimes things change, the plans fall through, you get injured, people leave or just when you think things are going somewhere, it cracks and comes crashing down. We’ve all had those moments. When it seems like it just couldn’t get any worse. Or we have these crazy, beautiful ideas and we let one negative little thought enter the chat. Woah there. Let’s pump the brakes on that chit chat.
What I’ve learned from these moments is that it’s the best time to show up and rediscover yourself and what you can do. These hiccups can give you opportunities to bounce back, get stronger, reinvigorate the hunger and have you meet yourself at a whole new level, if, and only if, you let it. When the going gets tough, remember:
“When there’s a will, there’s a way”. - George Herbert
Have you ever wanted something badly enough that you let go of hesitation and fear and just went and asked for it? We often get to a tipping point that sends us into action but what if we try and remind ourselves of this every time we have a crazy idea, allowing ourselves to fully embrace it and go for it. What if we use it as a way to not even let doubt sit at the table?
“You’re creative to the degree you’re committed”. - Grant Cardone
There is always, always a way to make something happen. And boy oh boy, when you commit, that’s where the magic happens. The ideas flourish. You think outside the box. You think of YOU and how you’re a magical part of this equation for progress. When you’re in this state, you’re not thinking of what everyone else is doing, you’re thinking of what YOU can do that makes sense for YOU. It’s the perfect moment to embrace who you are and what you bring to the table. You make the decision to bet on yourself and there is no going back. As a result, your creativity flourishes and your confidence builds. Recipe for growth! When you dive in the pool, you have no choice but to sink or swim. When you dip a toe in, neither of those choices arise…
“Everything is figureoutable.” - Marie Forleo
We can easily waste time dwelling on the way plans have fallen to the way side, but if we reflect for a hot second we might notice something. All the times things changed or didn’t go accordingly to plan, well you got through it, you figured it out. And not only that, you probably took a piece of that experience with you to adjust for the next time something similar comes along. So take a moment and have gratitude for the lessons that you’ve learned and use that as a reminder to keep pushing forward. If you don’t have all the answers, that’s okay. You’ll find them along the way.
All this to say, when the going gets tough or those crazy ideas seem too damn crazy, remind yourself of all the moments you’ve worked through and prevailed. You grew. You evolved. You become more of you in each moment you level up. Because you can’t level up without trying and failing, falling back and getting up, and succeeding and getting creative and repeating that whole thing. It’s not supposed to be easy but you can do it. Bet. On. You.
